Jury Duty

So I'm officially an adult now, I just got my first jury summons. It took long enough. I've filled out 2 or 3 surveys over the past 8 years but never actually got called.

I'm not sure why I've always wanted jury duty. It just always seemed like something that would be interesting. Probably more interesting because I had not yet been called.

According to the husband, I have a low number so I'll probably have to go in. I think it will at least be an interesting new experience. Probably boring and a long day and I probably won't be picked but, hey, at least its something different to do. I'll make sure to keep you updated at the end of February when I actually go in.

Why am I here?

I don't know really. I just wanted a place to talk and get things out. I'm sure there are many other bloggers out there in the same place in life that I am and I would love to connect with some of them.

In the middle of everything means just that. I already graduated from school and am working and trying to find my way in life. I'm married but no kids yet. I'm in a condo but no house yet. I'm in NY but my family is in PA. I'd love to move to PA to be closer to them but I love NY and my life here.

My life, like everyone else's I'm sure, is a random bunch of contradictions.

Hello out there...

Hi, I'm Allison and I guess I should introduce myself.

In a nutshell: I'm a working 26 year old girl with a husband, a dog, and 2 cats who loves to travel.

The past: I actually married my husband twice - small wedding in Vegas and then the big to do at a catering hall. We planned both weddings at the same time. We're both shy so we wanted the small Vegas wedding for ourselves and then the big wedding for all our family and friends. We also opted for Vegas so we could have a cheesy wedding that we'd look back one day and go "what were we thinking?" Everyone (there was 13 of us) dressed up silly (sparkly/like cowboys/like busboys) and Elvis was our officiant. We got married on 05.05.05 at 5:05PM. We had a Jewish ceremony back on Long Island on 05.22.05 and that's where we had about 150ish people.

I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology back in 2006 and later that year we bought a condo because we were sick of throwing away rent money. I feel like we bought the condo about 2 weeks before the housing market crashed. I'd love a house with a backyard but we'll be here for a while until housing prices go back up.

The present: I'm currently a counselor at a University and I'm very happy there. My husband works for the government. We have a little dachshund/poodle mutt and 2 pretty little cats. Well, they're not really little - one of them is actually bigger than our 13lb dog. We're big TV junkies and we tend to spend a lot of time on our super comfy couch with our laptops and animals. My family lives about 2.5 hours away in PA and we tend to go out there a lot to visit.

The future: We don't know really. We definitely want kids; some days way more than others. We haven't really told any family/friends yet but I stopped my birth control in November so when we're meant to have kids, it'll happen. I'm not into charting and counting days so we'll see how it goes. One day I'd love to be a SAHM but, unfortunately, money-wise that will probably never happen. We are looking into cutting back our monthly costs but it's hard when it's just the 2 of you and you like buying random (mostly useless) things.
